While the music is the core of the Norman Music Festival, it is the partnerships that make the festival unique.  Dustbowl Arts Market is an art and handmade market that focuses on local commerce, building community and celebrating originality and L & B is excited to be a part of the market at this years Norman Music Festival.  L & B will be bringing an array of hand knitted and crocheted projects from all of our wonderful employees.  Dustbowl’s goal is to provide a young, energetic, family friendly atmosphere that showcases local and regional artists.  Dustbowl’s spring market partners with Norman Music Festival in Downtown Norman.  Situated on the corner of Gray & Crawford, Dustbowl will be held Saturday, April 30th from 11 am to 7 pm and is located in what will be the heart of this year’s festival–surrounded by the excitement of the Main Stage, local businesses and delicious food vendors.  The fourth annual Norman Music Festival will be held on Thursday 28, Friday 29, and Saturday 30 of April 2011. The festival is free and open to the public and will take place on the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of historic Downtown East Main Street, east of the railroad tracks in the Arts District, as well as the 100 block of West Main. Thursday and Friday night entertainment will be predominantly at indoor locations, and Saturday will feature the full-blown festival atmosphere complete with street closures and large outdoor stages.

Get ready for L & B’s Lizzy Shawl Knit-A-Long designed and hosted by Mrs. Christy Fisher.  The inspiration behind this  pattern is Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”.  To keep us inspired why not knit-a-long while we watch the Pride and Prejudice mini-series, starring everyone’s favorite Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy.

When I think about the ladies in that period I think of them in their beautiful long dresses, bonnets and cute little feminine shawls.  Inspiration= “Lizzy Shawl” pattern.  I designed and knitted this shawl out of the beautiful Ella Rae lace merino yarn which comes in an array of luscious solid and variegated colors.  The Knit-A-Long will meet the first three Fridays in May, 6th, 13th, & 20th from 6:30pm-8:30pm.  The cost to join in the fun is $32 and includes the yarn, pattern, and a special stitch marker created just for you by Mrs. Fisher.

The first 15 minutes on the 6th will be the instruction of the pattern, but after the 15 minute discussion everyone will work on their own as we watch the mini-series.  We are going to limit participation to 12 intermediate knitters so that everyone has a good seat.  You will need to pick out your yarn ahead of time so that we can wind it and mark the middle before the first night.  Call us if you are interested in signing up! 405-310-3636.
