F.E.A.T. Sol Degrade Paper Poncho

In the month of April we are hosting Sol Degrade Paper Poncho a project in our F.E.A.T. series.  Remember F.E.A.T. is an acronym standing for Fiber, Explanation, and Tea.  We are offering the gathering in the afternoon on Wednesday, April 8th from 1:00pm-2:00pm.  The gathering will focus on the current project and we will discuss the why we chose it, offer an abundance of information on the yarn (Manos Wool Classica) and fiber, conversation, and of course, tea.  Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that it’s entirely free!  And not only is it free, but you will also enjoy the benefit of receiving a discount on the featured yarn if you choose to purchase it after the meeting. -B & Michael

Kika KAL

L & B will be hosting our spring knit-a-long beginning Tuesday, April 7th from 5:30pm-7:00pm.  We will be knitting Kika by Olga-Burava-Kefelian a versatile triangular shaped shawl that transforms from a garment to an accessory.  Worked with custom pattern that creates differently textured looks on each side lends this knit to be completely reversible.

You can check out the pattern by clicking here.  The name Kika translates to geometry in Japanese.  While searching for the perfect DK weight yarn for this spring knit we decided to knit our Kika out of Rowan Purelife Revive, a yarn that is made up of completely recycled fibers (silk, cotton, and viscose).

This is quite a large project so we are planning on four meeting dates over a four month time span: April 7th, May 5th, June 2nd, and July 7th, each evening is a Tuesday and we will be here at the store knitting from 5:30pm-7:00pm.  All you need to do to participate is purchase the pattern on Ravelry and buy your yarn at L & B Yarn Co.  This KAL is an awesome way to meet fellow knitters.

Spaces are limited so please sign up by calling 405-310-3636, e-mailing, or coming by the shop to visit. -B

Matchmaker KAL

L & B will be hosting the 3rd session in our winter knit-a-long Tuesday, January 13th from 5:30pm-7:00pm.  We will be knitting Matchmaker by Martina Behm a versatile triangular shaped cowl perfect for keeping you cozy all winter long.  You can check out the pattern by clicking here.  Martina picked the name “Matchmaker” for this project because she matched two of her favorite hand dyed yarns.  We followed her lead in matching one of our favorite fingering weight merino wools in contrasting colorways, Colinette Yarns Jitterbug.  This pattern is suitable for beginners or more advanced knitters because it is all knit in garter stitch, and lets be honest, who doesn’t love knitting in garter stitch.  This is quite a large project so we are planning on four meeting dates over a four month time span: November 11th, December 9th, January 13th, and February 3rd. -B

More from The Graphic Knits Trunk Show

As Monday, December 22nd nears we are becoming more and more excited about Alexis Winslow visiting L & B to sign her Graphic Knits books.  Here are a few more garments from the Trunk Show.  This easy cropped cardigan called the Finch Cardigan is perfect for first-time sweater knitters.

I love the shape of this light, airy, Engle Cardigan and you can dress it up with slacks and a button down top or wear it a little more casual with jeans and a t-shirt.  There are minimal seams and the circular shaping on the bottom gives the project visual interest.

All of these projects are absolutely fantastic, but I have to admit, this Minnow Top is one of my favorites.  I love chevron patterning and feminine lacy things so this is the perfect project.  I have several ideas on how I want to wear this, I better get to knitting one for my closet.  Please join us this coming Monday, December 22nd from 6:00pm-8:00pm for The Graphic Knits Trunk Show and book signing with Author of Graphic Knits, Alexis Winslow. -B
