Andi Hugs

Andi Hugs_1

L & B Yarn Co. is collecting hats and lap throws for kids with heart defects and cancer in loving memory of Andi Nagelschneider, M.D.  Thanks to many generous donations we have already collected over 15 hats and 5 blankets.  If you are interested in donating, hats and blankets can be either knitted or crocheted and can be children to adult sizes small, medium, or large.  The yarn must be washable and soft if you decide to add an embellishment like a button or flower please attach with a safety pin style stitch marker so it can be removed when washing.  Girls like bright colorful hats and boys prefer darker colors with a bright stripe or two.  OU, OSU and OKC Thunder colors are also popular.

Annual Toy Drive

Positive Tomorrows Octopus_2

The past four summers L & B has been knitting, crocheting, and collecting through amazing donations, hand-crafted stuffed toys to send to the incoming kindergarten class at Positive Tomorrows, an elementary school for homeless children in Oklahoma City.  Each year we have had such overwhelming success that we have been able to donate enough toys to supply not only the kindergarten class, but also the first grade class.  So this year we are once again turning to the knitting and crocheting community to help us make this year another success! As always, for each hand-crafted donation, you will receive an entry into a drawing for a $25 L&B Yarn Co. gift card.  The first in our collection is this extremely cute Jellyfish crocheted by Leslie out of 2 balls of Cascade 220 Superwash Wool.  To take a look at this pattern on Pinterest just click here.  We will collect donations all summer long until Friday, August 28th the day of our drawing!  With so many adorable softies to choose from on Ravelry, you are sure to find one that a child will love.  -B

Duffers

duffers_1

A project you can complete in just a few hours, what?  You can’t go wrong with these cute little slippers, what a fantastic gift.  We used just one skein of Cascade 220 but the options on color and how you knit them are endless.  You can knit them with two different colors making the bottom a different color than the top.  You can add an embellishment like a flower, button, or needle felt a design directly on the project.  You can hold the yarn double to make a thicker slipper or knit them out of a chunkier weight.  The pattern says using a DK weight yarn held double will work too!  Such a simple pattern knitted either on straight needles or back and forth on a short circular the slippers have only 19 rows.  If you are interested in joining us for some fun this Friday, May 1st from 1:00pm-5:00pm, we are offering a 4 hour workshop.  This will be a fun time to talk, snack, and meet fellow knitters while we all make a pair of Duffers.  The workshop is $25 and includes 1 skein of Cascade 220.  Participants will need to bring a pair of size 11 straight or circular needles, darning needle, and the pattern. The pattern can be purchased on Ravelry click here.  Just give us a call to sign up 405-310-3636.
