Women’s Peaked Cap

This class provides an excellent opportunity to bring your crochet up to the intermediate level.  This hat introduces front-post stitches and how to read a charted pattern.  The class is $10 and will be held Saturday, October 25th from 1:00pm-2:00pm.  You will need 250 yards of worsted or aran weight yarn and a size H-J hook.

Estonian Rib Hat

This beautiful, self-striping hat is a wonderful way to teach you how to incorporate two colors in a single project.  In this class, you will learn a provisional cast on, striping, and decreasing.  The class is $15 and will be held Saturday, October 25th from 10:30am-12:00pm.  Students will need one skein of variegated DK yarn, one solid DK yarn, and size 4 and 6-16″ needles.  Materials for the class are not included.

Holmes Cable Hat

It’s cooling down , so it’s time to break out your chunky cabled hats!  Don’t have one?  Well, then this class is for you!  Learn how to cable and knit in the round with this Holmes-inspired hat.  The class is $20 and will be held Saturday, November 12th from 10:30am-12:30pm.  You will need 120 yards of chunky weight yarn, cable needle, and size 11, 16″ or 32″ circular needle.  Materials for the class are not included.

Crochet flannel Squares

If you have ever wanted to combine your yarn addiction with your addiction to fabric this class will show you how to do it!  Learn how to merge flannel fabric and crochet with these adorable squares.  All you need is some DK weight yarn, worsted weight yarn for your main color, an embroidery needle, and a size G or H hook.  The class will be held Saturday, October 18th from 10:30am-12:30pm and is $25 for 2 hours of instruction, pattern, and flannel fabric.  Other materials for the class are not included.

F.E.A.T. Crochet Fingerless Mitts

In the month of October we are hosting Crochet Fingerless Mitts a project in our F.E.A.T. series.  Remember F.E.A.T. is an acronym standing for Fiber, Explanation, and Tea.  We are offering the gathering in the afternoon on Wednesday, October 15th from 1:00pm-2:00pm.  The gathering will focus on the current project and we will discuss the why we chose it, offer an abundance of information on the yarn and fiber, conversation, and of course, tea.  Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that it’s entirely free!  And not only is it free, but you will also enjoy the benefit of receiving a discount on the featured yarn if you choose to purchase it after the meeting. -B & Michael

Graphic Knits Trunk Show and Book Signing with Author Alexis Winslow

Join us here at L & B Yarn Co. Monday, December 22nd from 6:00pm-8:00pm and meet the designer behind KnitDarling.com and the new knitting book, Graphic Knits.  This will be a fun informative event where not only can you get your book signed by the designer Alexis Winslow, you will be able to check out garments from the book, and mingle with friends.

Alexis Winslow is a knitwear and textile designer living in Brooklyn New York. Her designs have a bold graphic aesthetic and often utilize interesting construction techniques. Alexis is the creative force behind KnitDarling.com and author of the book Graphic Knits (Interweave Press).

Alexis is originally from Norman, Oklahoma. She attended the University of Oklahoma and received her BFA in 2005, focusing on painting and pottery. After moving to New York City in 2007, she studied textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Alexis now works as a printed textile and product designer, creating children’s bedding and bath products for a large firm in New York City. She established KnitDarling.com in 2010, and cofounded CharitySub.org in 2011. Alexis began self-publishing her independant knitting patterns in 2009, and by 2012 landed her first full length book deal for Graphic Knits (Interweave Press).
