I’m so happy to unveil Betsy’s latest knitted masterpiece: the Blooming Stitch Shawl. By the looks of this piece, you would never guess that this is her first lace shawl; it’s that stunning. Betsy knit her creation out of Schaefer Audrey. We both love this single ply, silk/merino blend because of its sheen and the beautiful drape it lends to every finished project. Audrey glides off your needles effortlessly, making each stitch an absolute joy to knit. And with 700 yards in each skein, you can easily knit most projects out of just one!
However, don’t let the intricate lace pattern of this shawl intimidate you. It’s so well-written and easy to follow that you’ll easily be able to memorize the lace pattern by the end of the project, which will help you fly through the end of the shawl with little problem. This pattern also helped Betsy become comfortable reading charted instructions instead of depending solely on the written instructions. In fact, she recommends that you follow the charted instructions as it will help you to better visualize the pattern and not become overwhelmed by each row. This shawl also features a unique garter tab beginning, which helps the beginning rows blend seamlessly with the rest of the shawl.
If you’re interested in making your own Blooming Stitch Shawl out of Schaefer’s Audrey, hurry in today as unfortunately Audrey has been discontinued. Then just click here for the pattern!
