Knitting is not just for cold weather. I’ll say it again just to make sure everyone heard me…Knitting is not just for cold weather. It’s for all seasons. I love wearing my light-weight scarves and sweaters during the spring and summer to keep away the chill of intense air conditioning. I have a feeling I’m not the only one who feels this way. This is one of the many reasons it pays to know your fibers. For example, silk and bamboo blends work perfectly for summer knits because they stay cool. Cotton is another great option for summer knitting. These fibers can be found in the yarn out of which Leslie knit her Lolita!
This lacy vest is a must knit for summer. The simple lacework in the pattern helps keep the vest light-weight and airy to stave off the indoor chill without causing you to overheat. Not to mention it’s sleeveless, which I’m all about as I always seem to lose steam for some reason whenever it comes time to knit the sleeves for a garment. The pattern calls for Rowan Purelife Revive, a DK blend of recycled silk, cotton, and viscose. However, Leslie chose to knit her Lolita out of Fancy Tempo by Filatura Di Crosa. So grab some summeresque yarns and size US 8 needles and get started on your own Lolita before summer is over! -Michael
