I absolutely love Rowan Kidsilk Haze. The colors, the feel, the way it knits up, and the fact that it doesn’t shed much, all combine to form one of my favorite mohair yarns. So when I heard that they were coming out with Kidsilk Haze Stripe I got very excited and couldn’t wait for L&B to get it. Now that it is here and I own some, I have no idea what I want to make. While it looks beautiful sitting in my yarn basket, it would be better on me somehow!
Carolyn has come up with a wonderful solution to my problem! She has designed the Claire Cowl inspired by a free pattern on Ravelry from Lynn Anne Banks. It is simple and elegant. It strikes me as a wonderful accessory to wear over a sweater with an open neck. It is warm but light, which means I don’t have to take it off when I get inside chilly places, like restaurants. I am notorious for always being bundled up inside during the winter so this will mask it while keeping me stylish! She has graciously allowed us to showcase her adjustments to the original stole pattern in the “Free Patterns” section of our website, so run over there and grab a copy! I would second her advice to use wooden needles to knit with the yarn, because it is a little slippery and I have found metal needles to often cause me to drop a stitch or accidentally knit two together. You can make 2 cowls from a single ball of Kidsilk Haze Stripe and 1 cowl from a single ball of Kidsilk Haze. One for me, one for a Christmas present it seems. -Mikki
