Kid Socks
This is the first pair of socks I have actually completed in time for them to fit my 3 year old. I have made him several pairs with good intensions, but by the time I finish them his feet are to big. Now its time to knit a pair for my 1 year old and I picked the same yarn in a bright green that I can’t wait to get started. I made him one pair that I started when he and I were still at the hospital and I finished them a couple of months later, so of course they were way to small. This yarn made the perfect pair of summer socks.
They are bright, happy, and even though the J-Knits Super Sporty is a 100% merino wool the yarn is still lightweight and soft. The pattern I used is the L & B double toe up sock pattern that we teach here at the shop. You knit 2 socks at a time on one long circular needle, toe up. The great thing about knitting 2 socks at a time is that you finish them together. Knitting toe up socks allows you to not have to worry as much about the yarn quanitity because if you start to run short on yarn you can just bind them off instead of having a sock with no toes! Oh No!
We just finished a class on baby toe up socks, but if you are interested in learning this method of knitting socks just watch for the toe up class to come back up on the schedule for June. -B
