Stuffed Owl

Cotton Stria

After an evening of looking through my favorite children’s magazine I was inspired to knit up a stuffed animal.  I saw the cutest fabric owls sewn out of bright colored fabric and simple lines.  I decided I could probably knit a version of the owl out of some Manos Cotton Stria using some simple increases, i-cords, my favorite knitted circles, and pom-poms.

Cotton Stria

He knitted up really quick and then all that was left was to put him together.  I attached all of the pieces to his body, added the pom poms as feet, and glued on his eyes that I cut out of a brown pieces of felt.  I was pleased with how he turned out, simple and playful.  The yarn is very soft like you are holding a cotton ball and would be perfect for any project you are wanting to knit for a small child or baby.

The construction of the yarn is different from any other cotton we carry because it is a loose spun single ply with a small thread like strand that runs through the yarn holding it in place.  L & B is offering part one of the stuffed owl class Saturday, April 17th and part two Saturday, April 24th.  If you are interested in the pattern it will be available in the free pattern section of the blog after April 24th.

I so want to make this adorable owl for a baby shower being held for my daughter in law. The baby’s room theme is owls and her colors are tan, orange and brown. Unfortunately I don’t live anywhere near Oklahoma City. So guess I will need to wait until April 24 to get a look at the pattern. You don’t have an affiliated shop in Central IL do you?

    THIS OWL IS TOO CUTE!!!
