Giant Granny Square Blanket
We are always looking for fun new projects and this one started out being a pair of stylish winter mittens. I sent Leslie home with the yarn and couldn’t wait to see what the embroidered flowers on the cuffs we designed were going to look like. Somehow the yarn took on a life of its own to become one of the most recognized patterns in the craft world, a granny square.
You are probably asking yourself, “What do mittens and blankets have in common?” Let’s ask Leslie, no that’s a joke, the answer is Rowan’s Cashsoft DK. This yarn is a blend of fine fibers but, I would say the most important and luxurious of its contents is the CASHMERE. Though there is only a smidge of that fiber we all love and covet the difference that it makes in the hand of the yarn is huge.
By using a basic granny square pattern you can take that classic idea of a blanket made out of multiple squares and simplify it into one large project. You can still incorporate all the colors you love without all of the hassle of seaming! It is a win, win design. -Amberly

What a great choice of colors and one of my fav’s a “Granny Square”. This yarn will most likely be my next project.

I have always made some of my baby afghans in a big granny square. They are much easier and you can stop when you want to, (or give out of yarn)
